1. Montreal
It was still October when we went to Montreal
Feeling so young, we had no cares or wants
Except to be with each other
Live and breathe each other
For the weekend
We were alive
But sometimes, I'd look into your eyes
And they'd gone from blue and bright to gray and flat
You said you'd stared at other men til they became two-dimensional
But isn't love a little deeper than that?
We walked the streets in the autumn
Holding hands
Where the river and the land become one
No end in sight to what had only just begun
And our love gave life to Montreal
Now we're living by the armory
In a second floor apartment overlooking the street
And we love each other
We've held onto one another
Through it all
And I never regret it
Over time, the more that we combine
The more I think I understand just what it is to be
We went to Montreal and I told you that I love you
That's all I want you to see
We walked the streets of the city
After dark
We went skipping down the Rue St-Laurent
No force on earth could've stopped us then
And our love gave life to Montreal
I feel the same way now as I did then
When our love gave life to Montreal
2. Finding Our Way
I was lost but I think I'm starting to get it
I think I know just where I want to be
Who are you to come here with the answers
Still looking for yourself but you found me
And I think I like this new direction
I think I like just where we're headed
Nothing's ever felt as right as this
And I know that nothing's set in stone - believe me, I believe it
But this stone is set now, it's your own - take it or leave it
You don't have to know right now
I won't tell anyone
And there's nothing that I need for you to say
Just dry your tears right now
Our lives have just begun
We're heading out and living today
Growing up and finding our way
Don't ignore the feelings that you're feeling
Just because your father wants you to
Let's explore our waking dreams together
I never dreamed at all til I met you
And I promise not to get too deep
I'll read to you when you can't sleep
Be your rock when you get lost again
And I won't tell you you have to prove the fact that you're committed
And I won't tell you to make a move - you already did it
3. Girls In Songs
Why are all the girls in songs named Sara?
Lately I've been noticing a trend
Hear it on the radio - singers come and singers go
But here Sara comes again
Twenty thousand love songs about Sara
Sara sure does seem to get around
See her up there on the charts, she's making love and breaking hearts
And making quite a sound
And Sara walks, and Sara cries
And Sara sticks in the minds of songwriter guys
And she walks right on by
me when I'm looking at you
Why are all the girls in songs named Sara?
Is it just that popular a name?
Or when that's the name with which you're branded, are you automatically handed
Three and a half minutes of fame?
I'll sing to you
Cuz you're the one that my heart goes out to
(Sara walk on by)
Here's another clue
I'll cherish you
You're the one that I sing to
(Sara walk on by)
Dani it's you
So take all of your love songs about Sara
And all the other girls in songs too
I've got my own inspiration, goddess of my songs' creation
I'm gonna sing to you

5. Buildings Falling Down
She was grand in her isolation
A wonder of the world in her day
But one by one all her trains left the station
And she fell to decay
I saw her standing in the place she was betrayed
And couldn't think of anything to say
Thought about connections no longer being made
And I had to look away
And in my dream I saw buildings falling down
Because nobody was left to care
Another traveler checked his watch and looked around
Before taking off into the air
Walking alone and it's never been this quiet
Nothing but the noise in my head
Feet are moving on their own through the silence
My penance in the land of the dead
All around me are the faces of the lost
And it's too late now to rethink or reverse
Just another line that I never should have crossed
And I know that I've been weak and now I've made a bad thing worse and now
In all my dreams I see buildings falling down
I thought I knew myself but I'm scared
I'm flying home to get back on solid ground
And hoping that the ground is still there
6. The Way Home
We will build a house together
Build it up from a ground of stone
With cardboard boxes for furniture
It will be our home
We will drink a toast to all we have
To each other, to how we've grown
To the strength of our love
Drink a toast to our home
We will simplify our lives
A little at a time on our own
Make a better life for our family
A better life in our home
We will move into the future
Drawing a path into the unknown
Drawing in purple crayon
Drawing us closer together
Drawing our way home
7. Turn It Around
I've got a secret that I want you to know
I think you're looking like a woman who is out of control
You've been dancing up a storm full of lightning and rain
You're on the tip of my tongue and in my head again
I know you're with me by the look on your face
And then you're off in all directions and all over the place
You're such a tangle of emotions - wanna see you unwind
But I know that I can count on you to draw the line
You've been restless for so long
But you never tolerate it when something is wrong
You're not the kind to sit and wait around for something to start
You're gonna get up - get out - tear it apart - and
Turn it around
You're gonna march into the city today
'Cause you've got something something something to say
And then we'll make a lot of noise, going out on the town
You're shaking things up and then we'll break it down
You've been quiet for so long
But you never tolerate it when something is wrong
You're not the kind to just complain and wait for something to start
You're gonna get up - get out - tear it apart - and
Turn it around
Jump back in and out
Shake it shake it turn around
If this is what it's all about
Well I'm all about it now
I've got a secret that is making me drown
Your love is like a whirlpool and I'm going down
I'll never try to possess all the rest of your time
But I know that I can count on you to draw the line
8. Awake
Are you awake
Can you hear me talking
It doesn't matter
for what I want to say
You are the rose I want to keep with me forever
Now there's a new star in my sky but you're the sweetest flower
There's so much I admire in you
You don't know how much you inspire me
I've never been too good with words
You lead the conversations
It's hard to unlock what's in my heart
You hold the combination
Now that you're awake, I just smile
Is she asleep
What we made together
I'll want for nothing
but what I have with me today
You are my truth - you are a dream of strength and beauty
And you're so real - I'd never ask for more than what you give to me
There's so much more I just can't express inside of me
But you still know me best
Your eyes are open - can you see 'cause
I've never been too good with words
You lead the conversations
It's hard to unlock what's in my heart
You hold the combination
Now that you're awake, I just smile
It seems I'm smiling all the time
9. Sage's First Peanut Butter Sandwich
A one, two, three, five...
We went to the museum
I went on the carousel
Said we went to the museum
Went round and round on that old antique carousel
Then you said that it was snacktime
And I thought that idea was pretty swell
You found us a table
I sat on a yellow chair
You found a table in the food court
I sat on a yellow chair
You gave me a peanut butter sandwich
And I ate the whole thing right there
I remember that sandwich
As if it were just yesterday
Said I remember that sandwich
As if it were just yesterday
It was a peanut butter sandwich
And I'll never ever be the same
10. Til The End
If I could look and see the future
laid out before my eyes,
would I look the other way
and choose to be surprised?
Time is only moving faster,
and we've still got a lot to learn today,
grounding us more as we grow wiser
but I can imagine anyway
forming these visions of
what remains to be foreseen:
little girls in shades of green;
a new parade on Mothers' Day,
as the floats start to float away;
and years and years here with you
as wisps of white gather over the blue
We've come this far - we're ten for ten -
and where you are is where I'll be til the end
I know that much is true.
